Interrupt the Space
Contemplation
In March 2020 the pandemic forced the UK into lockdown. Immersed in our immediate surroundings, we analysed the familiar in more detail than ever, whilst living the same day, every day.
I considered the phrase INTERRUPT THE SPACE; I inserted this obnoxious, obtrusive object into my living room, flippantly disregarding the careful yet mundane setting study.
Within this period of forced reflection, events which emulated the world before lockdown continued; extraordinary events within an ordinary space triggered an awareness of the fragility of society's frame, and the desperate need for reform, accountability and change. The lockdown provided a space for many to reflect on a society in need, and this project helped me analyse the events of the summer of 2020.
